I normally drive for a farm within 150 miles of the base, I'm not required to have a cdl license for what I do. My boss has bought a truck in MO which is not in my state and well passed the 150 mile limit. He wants me to Bob tail the new truck home. Can I d oui that without my cdl?
Question, drivinig a new truck across state lines to get it home?

Of course he does. Its not his driving record if you get caught.

Tell the boss man to fetch it hisself.
Learn what is required to transport a vehicle via the state's Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Board or similar at your DMV within your state government. They are usually happy and pleased as punch to answer questions rather than write violating that are expensive.
Im assuming you are not licensed for that yet. It's different situation than farm work or exempt airmile work.Lepton1 and MartinFromBC Thank this. -
If he asks you to rob a bank for him to....would you?
Don't do it!ZVar, Texas_hwy_287 and FlaSwampRat Thank this. -
Late at night always worked for me,,,
No guts, no glory, besides, bobtail on a 2 lane around a scale is no big deal. Find out where the coops are, and go around them. You wouldn't be the 1st one to do that. Some of my buddies are probably still doing that.

Pay a swift driver to bring it. Then it will end in a ditch so it can be towed to base. Might need work done after

If it was bought from an individual, see if they can take it to a place where it would be legal for you to take it home. If a business, ask if they can hire someone to do the same.
Get someone legal to do it. MO will mess you up if you get caught.MartinFromBC and FlaSwampRat Thank this. -
I would contact an authority local to you and ask them. FMCSA has rules for a Covered Farm Vehicle, you may be fine bringing a new truck home bobtail. I’m not sure on that, but logic says that not every farm buys a truck within 150 miles of home and somehow they get them home.
You’re not buying a commercial vehicle so you don’t have to play by the rules the rest of us do. You’re probably going to get a lot of incorrect advice here so your best bet is make some phone calls and find out for yourself what, if anything, needs done.FlaSwampRat Thanks this. -
I have my own question, why don't you get a license???
Go for it, if you get stopped, just jump out and run, I do it all the time.
They will impound the truck, but hey it is the bosses, let him worry about it.FlaSwampRat Thanks this.
