When you are looking for drivers for your company what is it that you are looking for in a person? What tickets or certifications do you look for?

What I look for is for a clean abstract, no accidents within 3 years, 2 years experience and has to be 25. Can pass a drug/alcohol test. I don't run where they need hazmat or any specialized certificates but my one driver who came from a fuel background did give me a copy for his file.

No job jumpers, fast card, no drugs, minimal alcohol, reliable. 2 years experience so I can triple train you.

Okay so when it comes to oilfield companies looking for drivers what is it that you all look for? I am also very shocked at no mention of some mechanical ability being needed.

I think most drivers today are so retarded that there just steering wheel holders. If they tried to fix anything they'd prob break it even more and not help at all

Some outfits will hire you with barely a pulse ..... fortunately those outfits are becoming extinct ..... that said, read thru the pages of the oil patch threads and sub forums. It won't take you long to figure out what tickets you need to get a patch job and where your experience on the patch will take you .... IE operating vac trucks, pickers, etc

Mechanical knowledge or skill is a plus but the new engines being what they are its not often something you can fix with a wrench and a hammer any more.

I agree 100% .......... now by todays standards, if you can show a perspective employer that, not only do you KNOW the difference between the air hoses (2 min ... often more) between the power unit and trailer(s), but you can even CHANGE a broken or frozen one too !!!!! Well, then you stand a good chance of being 'IN'. JMO

If you can change a headlight by yourself then you are really valuable.
