You are better off worrying about when the software is no longer supported.

Typically, you'll have one GOOD release. Like winXP and that will be followed with a couple iterations of slow improvements, Win8. Then a really good OS will come out again.

Most softwares are that way. I'd never upgrade to quicken2013, but I'll consider the next release.

I recommend walmart for a laptop. I think my last one cost $300 with tax. I don't bobtail or drive out of route to shopping mall. Bestbuy is a 50 miles one way trip, walmart is only 3... ...I recommend he buy wherever is convenient just make sure he gets the absolute cheapest laptop there is. It's for the trucking business doing simple basic tasks it doesn't need the hottest microprocessor or the mostest RAM.

when mylaptop breaks. and i've had 4 so far. i shop for the cheapest. cuz that's all we really need on the road. walmart or bestbuy.

look for a cheap printer scanner. walmart or bestbuy.

don't go with millenicom. becuase you'll need a phone. and they all come with internet these days. and can be used as a hotspot. that's absolutely no reason to buy a phone and a wifi card. your paying 2 internet bills.

the only reason to have 2. would be when your in a 3g signal. but 3g is just about a rareity these days. verizon has been kicking butt getting 4g out. so all you really need is a verizon 4g phone. AND DON'T BUY THE IPHONE. i hear it can't talk and surf on 4g. unless it's a att or tmbo phone.

the problem with buying a computer right now. is windows 8 really SUCKS. i've been building and fixing computers since the days of dos and i won't install windows 8 for my dead grandma. 2 of the problems is battery life got screwed with. and the manufactures can't find a solution. and video doesn't stream well. on top of a lot of the features windows used to have were stripped out. it's not very tech or user friendly.

msft is supposed to be releasing windows 8.1 in the next couple of months that's supposed to fix those problems if you can hold out that long. otherwise. i'd go with a cheapo and a copy of windows 7 to install in place of 8.

Well my phone is what I use now. It is a galaxy s3. The only problem is sprint. They are pretty terrible. More often than ni t I don't have a good enough signal to talk to the wife at night, let alone get online and play around or find loads.

A ThinkPad X301 off eBay is a good tough notebook. They can be had for about $300 and can take a beating. Heck the older T60/61 is a good option as well. They can take the rigors of the road.

laptops aren't going obsolete as quickly as they used to. I bought my Dell new 2 years ago and they are still selling approximately the same computer today. I'm sure if you get something with an i5 or better processor and 6G ram and whatever hard drive you feel you may need you will be set for 5 years or better. Frankly, you could run a Linux distro on a 10 year old laptop and be able to email, web-surf, facebook, etcc.. just fine. The only trouble you would have might be streaming hi-def vid.

well, sprint screwed themselves when 4g started rolling out. they wanted to be the first. and signed up wit wimax only to drop there services 9 months in. now they are transitioning to lte. and will be the last to have 4g.

for the next couple of years. sprint won't be worth having as there 4g phones are limited to 3g unless your lucky enough to be in an area that has 4. but that's going to be very few places for the time being.

my city was one of the first to get 4g. 3 years ago when it all started. and it was done by sprint. but there's no sprint 4g now.

I recently switched from Sprint to Verizon. I will say this for Sprint, in the few areas I got 4G it was blazing fast ! If you were someone who lived in one of these areas and didn't travel it would be great. However, I felt like I got baited and switched by Sprint. I signed up for them because they had unlimited data, somewhere along the line when i added a feature to my phone they switched to a 6G data package and my bill skyrocketed. Plus I was dropping more calls than keeping and getting lousy, worthless internet speeds. Now that I've had Verizon for a month I can say I very rarely drop calls and get functional internet at most locations. It's a huge improvement.

I got a new computer with windows 8 on it about 45 days ago from Best Buy. I could not stand windows 8 now matter how much I tried to get used to it. They have a 15 day return policy but they took it back with no hassle.
