It isn't always possible to get home each week. If you don't care about the rates that you run for it may be easier. Most drivers will be out 2-3 weeks at a time. You will do night driving. The time you drive will depend on when you get loaded, when you deliver and how many hours you have to run. Regardless of what type of freight you pull, this is not just a daytime job. We work irregular hours, for the most part. Pulling over sized you will be more apt to haul during daylight hours.

With Maverick you will be home MOST weekends. It can range anywhere from 10 hours to 72 hours. Usually I am home for about 48 hours

G/MAN is correct on your other question in regards to Maverick.

I drove for Maverick for a little over 2 years and was hung out 8 times; 2 of which I volunteered for because I was on a run that paid over 1200 miles one way (not including deadhead miles) and I didn't want to give it up. Evil_E is right on the money for the hours home. Your weekly ours vary and you can try to set your hours to run during the day, but like G/MAN said it all depends on the shipper/receiver what hours you run. As for myself, I preferred to run at night.

I've been hung out this year 4 times so far and when I get home, it has been for as much as 90 hours and as little as 34 hours. I would say I average about 40 hours at home.

Maverick (flatbed division) tries tries tries tries tries tries tries tries tries tries to get its drivers home or thru the house on the weekends. Sometimes its long enough to get a restart, sometimes its not. Yes you do have to drive lunar powered rather than solar powered just depends on the load you're under and the delivery/pickup appointment/windows.

I put my app in and in the process of that part of it seems to be going good and I have a few more questions
1 How are the auto trans on the hills and in general
2 Do you deliver to many of the same places and are they usually on the edge of most cities.
3 Are there long waits to get loaded and unloaded
4 I live in Hot Springs AR and was wondering if its better to leave the truck in Little Rock for your hometime or does it cut into your hometime to much and do you guys get home most weekends I will be running regional flatbed, thanks alot for all your help

    1. The trucks are nice. Mine pulls great up a hill. Drive your truck in manual. Forget about automatic.
    2. If you are RAT/US/ or LNG division, you will go anywhere and everywhere. Sarge always say "Maverick is like a box of chocolates, ya never know what you're gonna get...."
    3. Yes. Not always, but yes. This is just the nature of this business.
    4. Just take the truck home with ya. Contact your local County Sheriff Dept. for info on places that are approved for CMV parking, or goto the nearest WalMart or Super Grocery Store and ask the manager if OK to park there on weekends. I park at Meijer's where I live.
