Hi!
Not sure how this is going to work because the posts seem old on this company.I have had Melton mentioned by other drivers on this forum as a good company to drive for. I currently live in Reno, Nv. But will probably be moving to Tx within the year. It just so happens that Melton is recruiting in Nevada so that peaks my interest as I am Leaning towards Flatbeds as what I want to drive. Just seems right.
Please just Melton drivers. And No professional whiners. Nothing is perfect and I don't want to hear how you didn't get a free donut with your free coffee!!! Just the truth for real people who WANT to work. OK?
So my questions are;
How do you like driving for them?
If I move to Texas in a few months, will that hurt me?
If your out west, do they keep you busy?
Would you recommend them to drive for?
Thanks in advance
Question for Melton drivers only.

I'm a road recruiter, and I have not heard of us hiring out of Nevada. Not saying we aren't, just that I haven't heard anything. Now, if you are moving to Texas, that will help, not hurt you. Taking the time off to move might be a hinderance, but living in Texas can be a good thing, depending on where you are moving to. A lot of our freight goes to Laredo, so if you live on 10 or 35 or close to those roads, you are allowed to stop by your house if you have extra time. Living in or close to Dallas is also good, since we have a yard there. We do have a Texas Regional board, drivers rarely leave Texas...You may have to wait a little while to be able to get that, but that could be an option if you live in Texas.
As for staying busy out west....running out west will be just as busy as running out east. Only thing is you'll have a little more time between deliveries due to distance between places. I generally stay southwest and west, and I am getting some decent miles. Could be more, but I can't really complain. All in all, I'm happy with my choice to work for Melton, and I haven't really had any reason to regret coming here.
Feel free to get with me about anything that may pop into your head that you'd like to know. -
Ok, Thanks Noggin. I'm going off the "Truck driver jobs" tab at the top of this page. Click on "Nevada trucking jobs" and the 9th one down ( currently) is an add for Melton. Not all companies advertise in all states. So I'm ASSUMING that if they're advertising for Nevada, they're recruiting here???
I want to work for the best company I can. And Melton keeps coming up from other drivers to check into. So you have my interest. I start school on the 18th and am trying to do my homework and do whats best for a company as well as my bride and I. Your company and Roehl keep being presented to me for my current situation. I have a strong interest in Flatbed so, that's where I'm focusing. I'm looking long term. Not just a stepping stone.

Any move would be along I-35 or I-10. Lived outside Austin for 15 years. I know that DFW, Houston, San Antonio triangle like the back of my hand.

Texas is like our Biggest freight Zone , never ending miles of " hey yall "
I prefer Midwest - way easier to get miles on the paycheck ( less mountains to slow you down )I see a lot of flatbed's sitting in the west coast
Yes , have many times, I don't know of a better company to flatbed for. -
