I can’t get either dealer I work with to even place an order for me on van or reefer. It’s really discouraging.

My guess is new dry vans ordered from the dealer are going to be around 43 to 48k when the dust settles, depending on brand and spec.

Reefers, who knows... maybe around 90 to 95k?

I helped a gentleman sell some equipment recently and new 2022 vans brought $72,500 and the 2023’s are going to be asking $75,000. No idea what’s being paid for them per unit.

It does feel as if equipment has peaked though. We’ll see if it levels off or starts to fall.

There is one more underlying issue. I have Physical Damage / Theft insurance for the value of $25K, which under normal circumstances would be more than enough but obviously it is not at present time. Even if I raised the value up to 45K, would that be enough to find a similar replacement and more importantly, would the insurance be willing to pay as much since they always know better what the market values is?

I don't know anything about buying new trailers but why is it that some dealers won't or can't order them?

I get that there's a wait time I get that the factory is backed up but are they only allotted so many trailers per dealer?

From what I understand, that’s correct. The customer demand is so huge that they can’t even get any for their lots, or if they do they’ll make customers mad because the customers already can’t get as many units as they’d like.

My company has been trying to order a trailer since spring, multiple dealers have said sorry can't help you, factories are not even accepting orders.

We are having to put a ton of money into our current trailers. One got a new roof this fall and now it needs a new floor.

I think Amazon is getting all of them, I have been pulling for them since before Xmas and several of them were less than 6 months old.

I think that at first the mentality was all the morons saying, I'm going to get rich I don't care how much I spend. I get that there are some people that just unfortunately picked that time to start their business but there were plenty of morons that would pay anything anything anything.

Now I think people are tired of being gouged.

It's becoming very common that people will post an overpriced truck or trailer on Facebook and people will just pounce on them.

Are you gonna be the guy that spends $35,000 on a trailer that 20 guys just told you and the guy selling it it's only worth $15,000?

It's a shame we can't do that in reverse to the brokers, lol.

Yep that is my understanding as well. It might take an off the wall dealer that no one really uses to find one to get it ordered. Any of the big dealers are most likely sold out for this year and probably cant order anything yet for 2023. In the next couple months they may be able to get the ok.

Better order now if you want one in a couple years. I've been on a list for a new one since last Spring, hoping it might show by middle of this year.
