    Is it worth getting prepass?
How often do yo really get to bypass the scale with it?

I'm a company driver, but I get to bypass 85% of the time, unless they're doing roll throughs for everyone like they're so keen on doing on the east coast, or I'm reeeeeally close on my axle weights.

Take the subscription cost and weigh it against the time and fuel it takes to slow down and speed up X the number of scales you pass in a month and you can see the numbers for yourself.

Also, consider getting a prepass/EZ-pass combo. Some states offer up to 75% discounts on tolls for transponder users, and some states, like Illinois, have open road tolling so you don't even have to stop.

Yes it is well worth it!

This year I probably only went into a scale 20 or 30 times.

You also have to work the 'weigh in motion' sensor game as well. Hit them too fast and you get pulled in, bounce the scale and you get pulled in. Hit them just under the speed limit and I get a bypass most every time.

When I was with Landstar some months I'd be 100% green, even for a couple months.
Then without warning I'd be 50/50 for a few weeks. Then back to nearly 100% green.

Best $12.60 a month I have spent. I get by the scales about 80-90% of the time like most here. The time and fuel savings is well worth the cost of a large pizza each month. I primarily run the midwest and seems I hardly ever go in a scale except ones that do not have prepass set up at them. Sometimes a scale will just red everyone no matter what. Some view prepass as a way to get over on DOT. I suppose that does happen, but I have no worries if I get red lighted. I haven't had an inspection at a scale in roughly 3 years.
