Question For Recent CDL School Grads

I didn't. I went solo right away with a smaller company right out of school. My orientation was as follows "go pick up this load at this address, take it 890 miles to Oklahoma City and we will find you a load back"

 

Normally these days in school you will already have prehire offers on the table before you finish school. Once completing then you will generally 1-3 days orientation and in some instances immediately get assigned to truck and a load shortly thereafter. Depending on the job you get out of school you may even have to be paired up with a trainer again for 4-6 weeks i.e. like going to flatbed or tanker training. about 4 days passed before I was on the bus heading there. They did an orientation every week.

Orientation depends on the company you choose to start out with. Some do it in 3 days, some take a week. Then you may or may not have training time. Again, length depends on company policy.

i finished school on a friday went to orientation on monday (three day) on my trainers truck 1900 on thursday. so it can go fast

 

I graduated on a Friday, interviewed with my company on Monday and started on Thursday.

 

I had to wait a week. Graduated on a Friday and they started orientation every Monday.

 

I had about a 10 day wait. I had a pre-hire with McElroy for the 23rd of May, but when I got it, we had not taken our tests yet so I wanted to wait until I had my actual CDL in hand before going anywhere. That, and I wanted to give notice at the place I was working at the time
