Question for ScanGauge users

The expaination I heard about this was that some ecm's read in inches of mercury. This is about .5 psi. Both are correct.

 

really internal ECMs work on metric system (Pa), but dashboards convert all metric stuff in Units we wanna see

 

ScangaugeD or KR?

 

I have had the Scangauge D in my truck for about 5 months now. Hooked up to read my Detroit 60. The boost on it is virtually identical to the boost on my dash analog gauge.

 

I've got the KR which is the same as the D but with more options.

 

Can you explain what the extas are? Can't get an answer on his forum.

 

I'd like to know if there is more than one decimal point displayed for the rolling trip average MPG ?

Also someone had mentioned that there was no on board power, and that every time the truck was turned off it reset, is this true ? I'm almost positive it can't be true since not many people are running entire trips and burning entire tanks without shutting off the key.

 

Mine is a DDEC IV also.

As for the comment from ENR... it does reset on the average mpg on the main display, but it keeps track of mpg on current trip and other trips. Also current gallons used since last fill and the mpg on current tank of fuel. You just have to go into other screens to get all of that data. The main screen (gauge screen) shows mpg average since current truck start up. You can also have instantaneous mpg shown along with a host of other items including cost per mile on your fuel usage. Only 4 things can be shown at one time on the D model. Have no clue on the KR version. I don't use all of the features on my D model now, I can't justify pumping out another $190 just to upgrade to the KR version since I don't use half the stuff that either of these models offer. Unless you know for certain you are going to use everything on the KR version, save $40-$50 and get the original D version. It is not that bad. Kevin Rutherford and those that see him as their guru have ways of taking fuel tracking and such to arcane extremes, so he just had to come out with an newer version scangauge to satisfy those that turn fuel tracking into something like the Manhattan Project was for nuclear weapons development. The D model gives me all I need to know.
