With the winter months approaching, and the slowdown of available freight in the northeast, where should I look to keep working. I am running between mass. and va. now and west to chicago., but I am prepared to go where the work is.

Where ever you can find flat freight during the winter.
The winter slows down a lot for flat freight. -
Flatbedding is seasonal?
.
I'm gonna venture a guess you hauling lumber, mulch, and other stuff along those lines? -
In the winter I suggest south Florida or maybe south Texas. I hate dealing with tarps in the winter and I am on my way to Colorado with a load of cheaprock I hope it doesn't snow.

TX and FL for flatbed freight? Whatcha hauling? Sailboat fuel?

I will not go to Florida but their is lots of flatbed freight in Texas. I am down their almost every week.

SC and AL are good states for flatbedding. -
After you camp out a few days or bounce out...
-
hauling lumber,mulch,salt and rebar mostly
-
thats what I like about flats, you never know what you might be hauling.
I am not too concerned about temps, I avoid snow though. But if thats where the loads are I guess I'll be chaining up.
Thanks for the info. I'll start looking toward SC, AL, Etc. for winter runs.
