Any one go directly through Progressive ever have any problems dealing with getting proof of insurance letters out to ICC authorities and states?
Is it a pain in the ###, that's worth paying a little extra to have an agent oversee all of that?
Or does Progressive take care of it pretty good on their own?
I need to make a decision by Monday as to go directly through Progressive or use an agent.
Thanks
And Merry Christmas.
Question for those that have Progessive insurance.

I'm with Progressive direct. No agent. Prepay the policy and you save 5% too.
I have had NO issues with filings. They charge for them ($35 each I think) but they were submitted electronically and within hours of my request.
(BMC-91 and BMC-34 for example)
Oddly, sometimes your rate can actually be cheaper using an agent vs going direct. Not sure I understand that, but I have been with Progressive Direct since June and anything I needed, I can call 24/7 and reach someone with virtually no time on hold.
Agents are never that accessible.....and I have never been overly impressed with any agent I have ever dealt with.
By the way, I have worked with RigQuote..one of the sponsors on this forum. They couldn't even MATCH my rate I am getting
with Progressive Direct (they are an agent for Progressive) - I emailed my policy to them to see if something in their ratings were off and I never heard back.
Emailed them 2 more times - both went to dead air....

Same here, just called 800 # and told them what I needed and they took care of it , $35.00 fee each as stated, but very easy to deal with.

I have two agents... one for liability and cargo... the other for my physical damage and bobtail/unladen coverage.
I've never been charged to send any type of documentation by either agent. -
Thats cool. Maybe Progressive charges it to file ELECTRONICALLY?
I dunno but it was lightning fast and I wasn't too concerned about the cost.
It was a one time only charge, so if I change limits and need to update my MC, there is no additional charges later on.
I'm not in love with Progressive, but anytime I call (day or night) I have reached a rep quickly and one that actually understands my needs. That was a surprise - but I think they all have to be trained/certified..

Could you tell me what the down payment was for Progressive or did you just pay for the whole term?
Thanks...

Mine is $1354. down

Thanks for the feedback guys.
I'm going to just go directly with progressive. I need to save every dollar I can until I pay the truck off and my insurance comes down some. -
They offer several payment plans.
I paid in full (additional 5% off and that really added up).
I think the cheapest is EFT each month. Here in my state they offer
EFT 12x a year with a $1 fee. So thats only $12 but loosing the 5% discount sucked.
I actually tossed the entire charge on my credit card.
I got 5% off from Progressive and 2% back from the credit card.
Of course it had to be paid off that month or the interest charges would wipe out any savings
..
Next year at renewal I may have to explore the EFT option... -
I have been with Progressive for 3 years and never have had one problem i have a agent i pay $480 a month and my down payment is the first months payment i save 5% by electronic draft my 2nd year mine droped $100 a month for my renewal
The only thing i dont like is thay only go 500 mile radius
