Have a peek at my "thanks" count.... If you don't like it when one is truthful and calling out BS, I would suggest that you read other topics and posts.

In Adam's (OZR agency's) defense the rare times I have seen OZR dry van loads pop on LS-Broker email alerts in the midwest or TN, while not fantastic rates, were never stupidly cheap and always in the $2.25-$2.50 range. Never have I seen OZR post anything below $2 a mile. Have even been offered good paying loads privately from him, or at least decent, I never did them cause I don't do NE. Never worked with OZR but they do seem to be a cut above the majority of agencies out there consistently posting buck a mile freight. But OZR doesn't seem to have tons of van stuff, at least not on broker side, they are more geared to flats and steps. Also I suspect their really good stuff goes to BCO trucks, but could be wrong. Not naming any agencies here but I work with a few who consistently post and offer premium rates to outside carriers. Have no complaints about LS whatsoever they are awesome. LS agency MRE with their endless cheap freight is what it is. Don't work for agencies like that...

honestly as a broker what do you have invested in any particular move. i appreciate the fact that you secure shipments and the leg work involved, but how much do you need to make off of a move.it doesnt matter if its 50 miles or 2000 miles.for example if you clear 50 bucks off every load and pass the coin to the guy thats doing the work, imagine the following you would have, you dont make a living off one load but thousands.muzzle not the oxen that treadeth out the grain.

We have minimums according to our contract that we have to make on each load or we get nothing. $50 wouldn't cover it. So let's just say for the sake of saying that my commission split with LS is 50/50. I make $100 on a load, they get $50 of it for all they do. So I get $50. Say we moved 3,500 loads this last year, that's $175,000. I've got six offices and 10 employees/contractors. All offices have phones, internet, load boards, etc.

    Phones - $530/month
    Internet - $600/month (6 offices)
    Loadboards - $150/mo.
Computer Upgrades, Software, etc. - $5,000/yr.
    Alarm Systems - $360/mo.
Office Supplies - $500/mo for six offices
Taxes - Corporate Taxes, Medicare, SS, Income, Property, etc. - $20,000 (rough guess)
Misc - $250/mo (just as a guess, it's likely more)

So just estimating and I'm positive I'm not even remembering everything, we're at $53,680. That puts us at $121,320 before rent, utilities, which at a rough guess for six offices is $72,000 a year. That leaves us $49,320 to pay 6 other people on before we ever see a dime. You wanna work for $8,220 a year?

Honestly you really think if a load pays $5000.00 he should only make 1% gross. How much do you make on per load basis?

How do you not think he is doing any work?

This is funny. At posting you have 21 thanks. If you have to gauge your "value" on that then you really do need to re-examine what you are doing.
