So I am looking at returning to the work force this next spring. I would do it now yet I dont like leaving my current snow plowing customers in a lurch. So I will return in April (I hope).

The question I would like to know, how big a data plan should I get? I am trying to preplan what I will need for when I return to driving.

    haha no.
I plan to use it for pretrip planning, maybe look at the weather, Yahoo instant messaging. I dont know what else. I will have my tablet with me for ripped movies, yet I dont plan to stream movies.

If you don't plan to stream movies, like netflicks, or watch a lot of videos, like youtube, you should be ok with around 10GB. Looking at websites like this one, or googling customer locations doesn't really burn up too much data. It's the streaming movies, music, and online games that burn it fast.

When i first came back out, I started with 2 gigs. It was plenty at the time. Then somehow 2 gigs wasn't enough and i found out i could double to 4 gigs for the same price. 4 gigs wasn't enough and i could up to 6 for the same price. Then it became 10. We're now up to 18 gigs.

My internet usage hasn't changed. Yet, somehow i'm using more.

I started with 3g, then 10, and on up. But L have help I am afraid. The phones have the data share plan, and my daughter can use it for facebook or whatever. Now I am up to 40g.

Just with me though, 20 g was ok usually.

I use it to google maps, fuelstops, parking locations. Weather conditions, Dot maps esp in the winter.
Facebook, mail, TTR. News reports, and I try to not watch too many videos, including the ones on Facebook.

You may make it at 10 or 20 for a start.

    10 gigs woaw.

With light use that will be way overkill.
I don't see that it matters anyway really.
Most Carriers should have no problem bumping you up if it looks like you will go over.
Just don't stream any Music or Videos if you want to keep it low.

    I don't know anyway. I used 106gigs last month.

The other question you should be asking is where are you wanting to run. Personally I just spend the extra for an rented verizon unlimited plan from Ebay. It costs a lot but it also means I can do what ever I want on the internet without having to think about it.

You can get away with using smaller data packages and still using youtube a bit. Just make sure you disable HD video in your user profile.

With most websights automatically playing some type of video these days. Like facebook for example. A guy could easily eat up 10 gigs.

Today is my last day for the billing month. And right now i'm at 10.15 gigs for the billing month.
