I am becoming a truck driver in the next few months, and had a question on the new-ish cell phone law. As a courier in a regular 4 wheeler, I had my phone mounted in my car and used it for Pandora, Sirius XM, and just music through Google Music. I also used it for navigation. Does this new law mean I will no longer be able to skip a song or zoom in or out navigation? I know that it is legal if it is a dedicated music player or gps, not sure if it is illegal if it is on a device that can be used to call or text (which would be unfortunate as I was able to consolidate my devices as cellphones gained those capabilities, and now I have to get separate devices again)
I read the law, but it seems vague on this point :smt102

That is a great question. I am a newbie getting ready to start driving. I have read where drivers use a blue tooth headset for their cbs that work for cb and cell phones. So while wearing these headsets is it still against the law? Also is the law state by state or federal wide?
I want to get the correct answer on this. I will ask my new company when I start. Just want to make sure I know that I am doing something wrong. Do not want to make a mistake that will haunt me down the road.
Thank you all -

The best idea is to learn the truck and the highway. Forget about all the gadgets and only use those that help you. Turn you music radio off so you can hear and keep the cb low. And only use it for safety.
There's a ton on stuff you need to lkearn about that truck before you should even put the key in. Learn how it works and learn how it helps you. The end result will be the truck will be working for you and not you working the truck.
When you run across a driver or even a mechanic ask them some questions. Just explain you're new and you want to know how to take care of the truck. I don't think any mechanic is going to say oh go read a book, I think almost all of them will take a few minutes to say what they know. The old timers including myself like to take the time and show someone someting that just might save their ###.LaBubba, highspeed1972 and Mark Kling Thank this.
