Sorry just reread and missed that you don't use a tank.
So that means you do have shut off valves on bottoms.
Also means you don't need that return splitter if you don't plan on using 2 tanks. You could just eliminate it and but a female pipe conector in there.

Yup. Except I only have a shut off valve on the tank I don’t use! Go figure. I thought about taking the line on top and hooking it straight to the passenger side where it fits to the spiltter

That would be the cheapest and easiest and work just fine.

Ok thanks. Do you think when I undo the fuel line from the splitter that fuel will come rushing out?

You will get a little bit thats in the fitting but no, nothing more than enough to run down your arm is all.

I appreciate your responses. So, but, if I damage the fuel line and need to replace it, it will leak for sure I imagine? - if I have to put a new fuel fuel line in at the bottom of the tank right

Depends on if it is top or bottom of tank. Take line off bottom of tank with no shut off it will run out the tank.If you take bottom tank line off at that spot you have pictured and keep the line higher than fuel level it wont. It can't run uphill.

Well I got started on it today. Went to loosen the driver side tank line at the ball valve on the splitter. Noticed the ball valve itself was loose. So I tighten the ball valve back into the splitter another round or two until it bottomed out. Seemed at first to stop the seeping, but I’d still sweating out somehow, but not at the threads now like it was. I notice now, the middle line going to the motor is sweating too. Not enough to drip but enough to sweat and gunk up a bit. Which is probably OOS right? For any diesel leak?

So I need to do something here. Thinking about just getting a new splitter with new fittings, attach all the fitting with tape nice and tight before I mount it. But the only thing is; when I opened the ball valve to finish tightening it, it drained fuel out at a steady little stream, more than a drip but less than gushing out. I let it drain for about 2 minutes and it kept going. Wonder if it’s from the fuel in the line to the motor?

So I’m trying to figure out which lines to take off first when I put the new one on? I have a davco filter housing, I wonder if taking the top off of that will help, like when you drain the fuel to change the filter.

I don't know anything about a davco, never had one. Yes the fuel in the lines will run out but as long as you keep the end of any hose connected to bottom of tank higher then the fuel in tank you won't loose much. A gallon at worst case would be me guess. If tank is full, hose will need to be above the tank. If half full needs to be above middle of tank and so on.
Doesn't matter which line or if you take all 3 off at once.
Can I ask why you don't use the other tank?

Ten4. We had a peterbilt once that I was running low on diesel to make it to a discounted fuel stop. I put 30 or so gallons in to get me the extra 75 miles or so and I ran out of fuel on i20 in Dallas lol. One tank took from the other.

So at that time it made more sense to just run on one tank instead figuring what the issue was. from then on it became like a habit and I kept doing it like that ‘kind of thing.
