Just make a trip sheet for yourself like others have suggested. Odometer readings are a great idea, you'll want them if you are audited. I used PC Miler for a while and that got me into trouble during my IFTA Audit. If you have odometer readings they are pretty much indisputable (so says the auditor that did mine). Make a place for miles by state and routes and also for your fuel. If you're really good with exel (I'm not) you could probably do it all on your computer and figure out a way for it to compile at the end of the quarter. I made a simple spread sheet I use to calculate my quarterly miles, fuel and whether I have a credit or owe each state.

I do place a trip sheet/invoice in each trip envelope also. At the bottom is a section for routes, miles and date in order to comply with any audit. Each new trip sheet "start hub" begins w/the previous trip's "end hub". I feel all miles must match up w/the governing documents one files as an O/O i.e MCS150, New Mexico, Arkansas, Oregon and base plates. These are the documents/forms I normally file. As far as logs, I just created my own and get them printed at a print shop in duplicates.
