Now your thinkin Shultz--As I mentioned MANY times here--the last 2 trucks I owned NEVER saw FL and I lived there
You have a great payin lane and good freight--do 2-3 rounds find a safe place to park and Fly home! Did it for over 10 years

Going yo get a lot worse here. Within 50 miles of Tampa/Tropicana-Bradenton area there are 2 Amazon warehouses being built. One in Ruskin and other 30 miles away in Lakeland. So in other words hundreds daily coming in area and hundreds competing for loads out from somewhere. So a lot of deadheading to Ga. It looks like.

O yes, getting worse. Dry van freight across usa pays better than a reefer loads in/out FL.

Florida is my home town born and raised. Left Florida then got into trucking in Georgia. Every company I worked for tried to stay away from Florida. My brother owns his own trucking company in Davenport. I’ve seen first hand him go through the wire when he first started. Once he got some time under his authority and made some relationships with brokers it got better and it works for him. A lot of it depends on your life style and what you want out of the work you’re putting in. He runs local but will shoot (deadhead) into Georgia and Alabama if it’s paying good coming back to Florida. How I look at it there will always be better places for freight then others. If you have to live in a place like Florida and you’re a trucker then you should adapt to where you are. I met a guy that runs a flatbed company that has more work then drivers hauling agricultural from Florida to Carolina’s then will catch something to Atlanta then back to Florida. You must think outside the box and find a niche/contract or a customer that consistently pushes out then find something good coming back in. Make a upside down triangle affect. 2 rounds and then off on the weekend. If you plan to do local you have your work cut out for you if you don’t have help.
