Question on hooking up PS3/TV setup to inverter in sleeper

I would say the TV is junk. For your own truck get an LCD TV, it takes less power to run, and set it up that way. Leave the CRT alone.

 

Most outlets will be disconnected when an engine is cranking over. So, when the engine starts to crank your inverter is basically shut off, thus anything connected will shut down.

I have a 23" Vizio LED, running off a 100w plug in inverter with NO issues. I have also had my laptop plugged into the inverter at the same time, again, with no hiccups.

NEVER buy a TV/DVD combo!!
One or the other will go out soon enough, and then what are you left with?

 

how many watts does your vizio use? mineis 19 inch and uses 25 watts and my 100w inverter wont work, as I tried it out yesterday it gives me sparks that I can see inside the vents in the inverter and a bit of smokes came out, and that 100w inverter is like that every time I plug in, even with nothing to plug in to the inverter to draw power from

Yep sounds like your inverter is fried.. do not use it or attempt to use it unless you want your truck burned down.

 

Was it connected to the cig outlet? I bought a 400watt invert and it says anything over 150 watts needs to be direct connected to the battery. My ps3 won't start from the cig outlet . The invertor is fine cause other items work on it

 

180 watts is the most you will get from most cigarette lighter outlets because they provide 15 Amp power. Of course, that depends on the battery charge, but assuming the battery is at exactly 12V:
12V x 15A = 180 Watts

As far as I can see, a ps3 requires between 200 and 300W, depending on the model. TVs have a wide range of Watt requirements, just double-check the sticker at the back.
