    “Follow the rules” lol

Michigan is the worst are I deal with. At 16’ we are limited to 45mph on the interstate. When we have to center up for something on the shoulder we have to cut into 70Mph traffic. It’s downright dangerous.

When there are three lanes we typically stay centered in two and three. Then we get stopped for obstructing traffic. The alternative is to drive partially on the shoulder. Both options are illegal, so we chose the safer option.

We were doing 50 mph for a super load and my pole car got rear ended by a kid driving this car, not just the rear car at risk.

I looked over it and it looks like rather than applying it to all OD loads it's just IoH's throughout all of IL. It also looks like the 45mph rule applies to both overweight and OD loads on toll roads. Thanks for pointing out error here, wish I could delete thread now...

I’m not sure what you posted. I’m going by the provision sheet that must be carried with every permit.
    https://idot.illinois.gov/Assets/uploads/files/IDOT-Forms/OPER/OPER 993.pdf

It’s not surprising that the state would have conflicting laws. Maybe your paperwork is outdated? The provision sheet was revised in 2018.

edit to add: it looks like you posted the rules for Implements of husbandry, ie farm equipment, which does not require a permit in Illinois under certain conditions. I’m talking about General oversize permitted loads.

About implements of husbandry , last week had a farmer with disc folded up on a trailer took out a power drop to a house, we could get under it on the wrong side of road but now it will be higher on our next load.

You are correct. I run a blanket for KS and MO and never paid attention to them doing away with that. Thanks for the info.

Used to run a lot of loads with police escorts. Some cops would want me to go as fast as I could go, just to get it over with...
Other cops would hold me to 45-50mph...
Some cops really knew how to get it done (blocking ramp traffic or running red lights)
Other cops were just along for the ride...
