I went with a non-trucking plan from Progressive, since I have had my CDL for a few years I am not considered a "Newby", and it was about $800 a year. I can convert the policy, when I sign on with someone, or get my own authority. But right now I have not found a truck yet that I like, and my old freightshaker is not in good enough shape any more to run anything but local.

I just got done getting insurance with Progressive. It was pretty reasonable but I have an older truck so didn't get much coverage on the truck itself. The customer service person was pretty knowledgeable and very helpful. Did it all on the phone in just a few minutes. Then got an email confirmation and all the paperwork in two days via mail.

Is it cheaper to insure a 53ft or 48ft reefer? According to my friend, it was cheaper to go from a 53ft to a 48ft. I would like to know the reason.
KH -
maybe because the 48 is a newer trailer and less likely to break in half from fatigue ?
or your less likely to run over something with the shorter trailer
only things i can think of
but what do i know -
The major component of trailer insurance is the value and 48's are usually less money than a 53 given equal age and condition.
The Challenger Thanks this. -
CRST is insured by Great West, and well.....all of their drivers are either bad drivers or have no experience. So maybe they'd be a good choice.
