I got a quote yesterday for a 2005 Int'l 9400 $30K and a $20K Step; 1Mil, 100K, 1K deductible and it was $10,159 year, $2,032 down, and $904 a month. I have not ever been an owner operator yet, but have a clean record. This seemed high to me, but not your kind of high. Good grief.

Gear Warrant, thats the kind of quote I was looking for. My truck is a 2004 freightliner century at 12K and 2003 Utility reefer at 18K. If you dont mind could you please inbox me the insurance company #. I'm still looking around. Just doing the math on my previous Numbers I would have to run like I have a truck payment.

Got another quote today, $1400 dollar cheaper than my other quote, waiting on two more quotes, Hopefully by this afternoon, I can make a decision!!
Need to get this out of the way so I can go get plates and IFTA. Hopefully down time is no longer than maybe a week at best!. Insurance is very expensive, sheesh!!!!!

Tell me about it. I have been getting quotes for $13,000-15,000 here in Florida. Id be a new O/O but have had my CDL and been driving since 1992. Its crazy how high the rates are to get started. Progressive was by far the highest. I figured my expenses on $10,000/ yr and thought I was being realistic but apperently Im not even in the ball park. One agent told me that rates are real high for Florida especially and if I lived further south it would be even higher. Ill keep searching and maybe Ill get a quote that allows me some room to earn a profit. These rates are the equivolent of buying a used truck every two years.

I was told a lot of companies are not writing policies in Florida right now so the ones that are will have high quotes. These high quotes are one of the last few hurdles to getting started. I want my expenses to be in line before I pull the trigger and if I cant get them to a point where I can see some profit I will have to keep working to find better quotes. OOIDA told me it would be about 8 days before they can call me back.

I recall someone living on Long Island posting that they were quoted a rate of around $36,000 (as I recall). That is insane!!! I shop my insurance every year. I like my insurance agent, but also want the best rate I can find. Insurance rates have been rising the last couple of years. I switched insurance companies last year due to rate increases. I have never had a claim with my old insurance company. I also have a good safety and mvr, yet received increases the last two years. There was absolutely NO reason for the increases. When time comes to renew, start a couple of months early so that insurance agents can get back with you prior to getting down to the wire on renewal. Another thing that I found is that there can be a difference in rates, even with the same insurance company. It depends on how your agent presents your business and their relationship with the underwriter. Several years ago I switched agents and saved about $1,800, while staying with the same insurance company.

G/Man it is all the others that DID have claims that probably raised your rates. The actions of one punish the masses.
