I have been at this for a while. When I started the company changed oil at 8,000 miles. Then the LF750B type filter came out and they went to 16,000 miles. Now oil has improved, tolerances are reduced and 25 - 50,000 mile oil changes are OK?
As for filters I have seen problems with many of them over the years. Things you could see! Blew the can off the flange at the top of an oil
filter. Engine kept shutting down on the road after service, fuel filter was sucking air, etc.
I am not advertising for them but no one else has a filter head like Cat that I have seen. Even though someone else surly makes those for them are there other differences we cannot see?
There are tools that cut a filter can open like a tubing cutter. Bought one of those to look inside with suspect engine problems. It is interesting to see what is inside. Some look like paper, others synthetic media? others like asbestos insulation.
There was a shop in this area buying brand name filters on line. Ended up they were overseas trash and blowing the cans off. Everyone can have manufacturing problems but I buy from a respected supplier.

I just spun 2 main bearings on an isx with 400k on it. I keep going back and trying to figure out if it's something I did.

I don't think so. I think they work or they don't, outside of just being neglected.

Your right though. Some manufacturers say 50k on oil changes? With egr? Really?

The Milwaukee M18 guns won't do you wrong. I have the ½ and ¾ and they're great. And the charger won't trip your inverter.
