Nope, while some companies set their own standards on leasing your truck, the feds will let you run any year as long as the specs are right for the load being hauled and you can run the mininum speeds posted on the rtes your running, As long as it has an annual inspection sticker and passes dot specs.

Some factories require not more then 10 years on the trailer.

Like BUCK said...as long as the trucks meet safety regulations, and the driver feels safe with it, then there is no problem.

Ports are having difficulty with air pollution. They are now requiring ships to use the local electric utility in place of running their own generators during unloading. Ports are taking control of the truckers who haul containers from the port to the railroad. Eventually, the independent owner-operators of older trucks will be denied entry to the ports because their equipment can not be upgraded to 2007 emissions standards.

Who is going to pay for the ships to hook up to local utilites? And how would they do so. A big ship's electrical system has to generate a LOT of power. I don't imagine one can simply pull up to an oceanside dock in the cargo equivalent of the Love Boat, and just plug it in. You'd need overhead lines to supply that kind of juice.
