SHOULD you drive after failing a drug test?

Depends on who you failed it for. A larger carrier will certainly report this to HireRight, but you can dispute everything individually at that level. If the company doesn't respond to your dispute, it drops off. I would do the SAP just to be safe. I think any trucking orientation shows up on some other report, like a PSP or something. If it's for a small mom and pop shop, it might not show up anywhere. Was it a DOT test? Just pre-employment? If it's the latter, just forget it ever happened and move on with life. And stop using drugs if you wanna hang with the big boys and their shiny rigs, and their masculinity, and live long enough in this industry to tell some million-miler stories, chew copenhagen , urinate in plastic bottles, have a bipolar Swift trainer, or whatever else will happen in your career

 

If you failed by anything else other than prescription drugs, please go find something else to do.

We cannot help you if you don't share what drug you failed. There are different drugs both legal and illegal. It's one thing if you had surgery and are on pain meds a week or two. Quite another if you were munching meth or injecting herion etc.

One of two things will happen. If it's a surgery sitaution, we will tell you to rest up stay home and heal. Bring medical documentation proviing your surgery. if you were abusing illegal drugs. Then we will likely say not so nice to find another industry to be in. Trucking is not the place you want to be drugging up. You will literally kill people or worse with that crap in your sytsem. And in some states expose your employers to also being prosecuted etc.

I understand you might be thinking the tv is watching you at home through the lightbulbs or something silly. But we cannot help you or give you a hard time depending on what drug you failed. If it aint us, it will be recrutiers who will ask you this questions.
