hey there.. I'm currently looking into trucking schools up here in maine but don't have the cleanest driving record.. I've been told it looks worse than it is.. prior to 09 it looks awful.. but in 09 I had a violation free year.. and since then I've had failure to display valid inspection, operating unregistered, speeding (60 in a 45) ,one accident and two seat belt violations, I guess I'm wondering if there are any companies that will roll the dice on me or am I dreaming.. if it doesn't look like I'd qualify now.. how long should I expect to wait for it to clear up... if I might have chance at it now.. any companies that are good to work for for recent truck school grads...?

Most companies want to see no more than 3 violations over the past 3 years, and no more than 1 in the last year. It is pretty much the same for accidents. Obviously the cleaner the better! I wouldn't count yourself out of the running, there are some companies that really need drivers and are willing to over look some of the minor non-moving violations. Good luck.

With all those violations listed (since 2010), and you saying "but don't have the cleanest driving record.. I've been told it looks worse than it is.. prior to 09 it looks awful".

I think the ones that said it looks worse than it is are on drugs. I don't even wanna ask what it was like "prior to '09".
The speeding can be considered by some companies to be equal to reckless driving, being as it was for 15mph over the limit.
There's really no excuse for the 2 seat belt violations, and they also will have a big damper on you being hire-able.

Is your "operating unregistered" a driving under suspension or is it no current registration (license tags) on the vehicle?
BTW, a "pre-hire" is a worthless thing in your case. Many companies will give you a pre-hire letter, but once you get a more thorough check by the company, at or before orientation, they often disqualify a person after this in-depth check.

Personally, I would wait for a few years to pass, to show you have a (hopefully) clean driving record for 3 years. Or much "closer" to clean.
