Need some opinions here. I was involved in an incident. I taggged a park abandon vehicle parked on side of road at night with no lights on or anything… (I was looking the opposite way) it Caught in company drive cam. Damage side step and wheel and tire of truck. I drove 10 mins down the road and called the cops. Cops didn’t make a police report or anything. Which was odd but he gave me his card and call log number just incase something popped. Company isn’t letting me drive home and having 2 drivers come down (1 drive truck home) 1 drives me..I figured they’re going to just fire me… would you wait for 5 hours for the ride and then ride passenger 5 hours home or would you just drive back and walk away..
Very weird situation but this how it’s really going down .

I forgot to add, I honestly didn’t recognize I hit a
Car, it hit the lower side steps, I did pull over right away and reported to my company. They got the cam with in 25mins and I then reported to the cops.austinmike Thanks this. -
Playing fleet owner …
where I live, there are cars parked on the side of the road in front of someone house, they usually sit feet off of the road and one guy parks his truck behind his house which is a main road.
-
25 mins later get a phone call said call 911 and get a police report look like a car rear bumper was hanging out into the lane…. -
I hate to say it too, but I think you shot yourself in the foot by saying anything. Since you split the scene, the cameras are against you. 10 miles is a long time to "think about it", and unfortunately, the company and future companies, can't hear your explanations, and it goes down as a mishap, and will stay with you forever.

201 Thanks this.

meaning walked back to it to actually see it?
again how was it abandoned? -
Don't go home yet. Let the two drivers that are coming for you take the truck and give you a ride back to the terminal.
If you just leave on your own, you may be charged with truck abandonment which is serious when applying to another company.
