Thanks to the feedback from all of the satisfied Crete drivers I've decided to focus on trying to get on with Crete. I'm currently in truck driving school and will graduate in 2 weeks. Now, I live in central Texas so I'm assuming I will be based out of the Wilmer terminal. My only concern is that I am hard of hearing, and a little worried they will give me a hard time over the hearing test. I passed my dot physical with no problems, so I don't think I would. They don't do anything crazy with the hearing test right? I'm already prehired with Werner, swift, kllm and ffe, but I think I'd be happiest at Crete. I see a ton of Crete/shaffer trucks running up and down i35, which is what I live off of. Anybody with less then desireable hearing have any feedback? Thanks!!

The best advice i would give would be to call them. That is always the best way and then see where you stand from there. If you cant get on with Crete then a very good starter company would be Roehl. I would avoid Werner and Swift like the plague if I were you.

Yeah I talked to Eddie w. Today and he played it off for the most part. Hopefully everything will go smooth, I'd hate to get all excited about the gig and then be turned away by something silly like hearing. So I'll just keep plugging along and hope for the best. The nomadic lifestyle suits me well, travelled for 3 yrs as a skydiver all over the world with my "home" being my trusty airmattress and sleeping bag.

If you can pass a DOT hearing test you should'nt have anything to worry about.
You will want to be reasonably phyisacally fit. The endurance testing will push you to your limits. Especially if you are 50 plus and have done nothing more then just sit behind the wheel for the last couple of years. I'd reccommend. Taking regular walks and lifting light weights for a couple weeks prior to doing the test. -
Im 26 and a former triathlete. Not worried about the endurance thing. I found my audiogram and I have less then 20 db loss across the range and dot says you can't have more then 40 db loss so I'm good there
