Get the $40 700 watt microwave from Walmart. I put my microwave on the surface just below the swingaway TV mount in your picture or in open box above the swingaway TV mount. There is usually a strap, or fittings for a strap, that will hold the microwave or TV base down to the surface it is sitting on. If there is no strap than you need to put the microwave where the bumps on the road will not cause it to fall. All I did to protect my microwave while driving was wrap the glass platter that rotates in a towel and leave it in the microwave. Or, if your microwave comes with an air-filled sleeve for the platter, just use that to protect the glass platter.

I ordered a 4' strap on Amazon.com to hold the microwave down in the microwave shelf. Thanks to everyone for the feedback.
