Do truckers care that they are on all the time, even when truck is off? Pointed in sleeper cab? Undressing or naked? What about audio? You gotta fart. What if you are having a private conversation or going over your bank information/ account? Do truckers just not care about their privacy and accept living in what is essentially like a prison?

Swift had the inward facing cameras a couple years ago, for around 6 months.
They lost so many drivers over the issue they disabled it. Another reason might have been the ammunition it gave lawyers to use against the driver and company, since almost anything might be considered a distraction. Even changing a radio station if it happened at just the wrong time.
No more drivercams in our trucks, just forward facing.buddyd157, Doealex, Crude Truckin' and 4 others Thank this. -
I would not operate with one. It gets covered with a piece of tape. If the company don't like it they can find another driver to operate that truck because I am gone!redstapler, Rubber duck kw, Doealex and 4 others Thank this.

Good news!

Most drivers cover the camera when they're parked or on rest breaks.

I simply refuse to operate with one. If Company says tough, then Mr Duct Tape has the last word. (Over the Camera lens facing inside.)
They can always fire me. I could care less. But I stand on my principle. If you want camera on me then pick a pretty dispatcher and put a camera on her desk for me. =) Fairs fair.
And a camera I bring for myself. So that it will resolve in front of Officer Puzzles he said she said.LtlAnonymous Thanks this. -
We give our drivers a cover for the inward facing one. If they misbehave the cover comes off, but are still encouraged to pull the blinds or otherwise cover it while off duty.

The way I understand it is the inward facing cameras only turn on when there is an 'Incident ' like a hard break situation for example. But......Ive also heard that they can be sneaky and can turn on the camera and watch you as you set on your 5 gallon bucket taking a ####. Who really knows.PE_T Thanks this.

They use the excuse that they only come in during an incident. The thing is they can make them so sensitive that they come on going over the smallest of pot holes.or bumps in the road.BUMBACLADWAR, Doealex, rachi and 2 others Thank this.

Honest answer from someone behind a desk...
I depends on camera model and vendor. Many of the newer stuff, yes, they can.
