I avg 25-3000. Some weeks 22 just depends. Your welcome! Thanks for the compliment. This week has not been that great for me. I have not checked my miles yet. I could not get a decent load on monday. Then my next load was a nightmare del to a contractor job and now I am on a broker load, but this is trucking. All co's have up's and downs, but I work my tail off and don't think this is a job for whiners. They usually don't last long in this job.

I cant agree more with you. I have read so many posts on here and these students drive for 2 months out of school and then quit and bash the company. I love this forum but it drives me nuts when i read some of these posts. I think maverick is a good company and i understand flatbed freight so i know it is up and down but wow if you just read this forum you would think they are worse than jb.

Sorry you had a bad week but at least you are out getting miles i am home all done with the farmer and getting itchy to get back out on the road. be safe and have a good day :toothy7:

From my mon drop till my wed drop I have 1795 miles for this week. It was a bad one. I am 25 miles from my next preloaded trailer that I can get at 2 am. It will take me home on thursday. I am 300 miles from the house. It dels on mon in TX and I have till 4 pm to get it there. When I drop on mon I will have 1027 miles for the start of next week with 4 more days to run on that pay period.

When i was talking to paul that day he told me they try to have that 10am drop for monday so you start out you week on a good note. I am sure it not always like that but i would be happy to make my first drop on mon an and have almost 1100 for the week. Do you haul glass? i thought the only pre-loaded trailers there was glass but it would be nice to have most of them preloaded. I am reading that the company has had big losses the last 2 quaters, how truthful is this? I hope you break that 2700 mile mark this week with the holidays aproaching fast every mile counts.

Have a great weekend and stay safe :smt041

No, I don't haul glass. We have a couple accounts where pipe and coils are pre-loaded. I don't like preloaded. I would rather live load. I am not sure about the last 2 quarters. I do know that freight is slow for us in some areas. I have had to wait for loads after some of my drops depending on where I am at. Other areas I have had pre-plans. I have broke 3000 miles with them several times. My take home avg is between 800-1200 a week and home most weekends. I took a little over 900 home this week and really did not have that great a week on that paycheck. Next week I hate to see what it will be because I took a beating last week.
I did a restart in villa rica ga last week. There was a glass hauler there del to the same town. We got to talking. He had his wife with him. He used to be in the US div, but went to glass. Was in the US div for 2 years and been in the glass for 1 year. He said he liked the glass a lot better. Makes more money there and does all his tarping inside. Said he gets home every other weekend unless he decides to stay out for 3-4 weeks. I asked him if he had problems with fueling in canada. He said no he fuels before he goes in and when he comes out.
For me mav is a good fit. I don't complain. I just do my job. They treat me well and get me home on a regular basis. I make decent money with them and drive nice equipment. They have always been more than fair with me, so I am happy there.
They got me in when I had to get home for my daughter's surgery. They bounced me a long ways empty to come home for thanksgiving and once when I came home to a water leak. I called them and told them I had to work on my house. They sent me an empty trailer and took my load and I took a week off. They never gave me any grief over it.
They will let someone go that will not follow co policy. If you don't meet their co standards. They also won't tolerate a FM telling a driver to go ahead and drive after you told them you can't continue. If something comes up they push the load back one day. They will not let a FM trash a driver nor will they allow a driver to trash a FM.
They are big on respect and expect you to be professional out here.

Are there any newer posts on Maverick than 2007? it's Nov. of 2008 now, and I'm looking for current info.

That's interesting about the glass div.. I spoke with a recruiter again and she told me that's all they were hiring for. They stopped taking reg. flatbed drivers until mid. Jan. Told me for Glass div. it's more money - which I already knew. And told me every other weekend I'd be home. That's interesting about the tarping inside. What about untarping? Also, what's an FM? Freight Manager?? Or? what do they do? are they basically a dispatcher or ?

That's interesting about the glass div. I was told this past week that they're only hiring for the glass div. as of early Nov. 2008. They won't be hiring for regular flatbed div. until mid-Jan. of 2009 at the earliest. Regarding Tarping inside, what about untarping?? is that done inside too? Why is glass loaded inside I'm curious? Weather issue or ? And what is an FM? Freight Manager? are they basically dispatch? And, is it safe to say that your logs do not have to match the QC?

He told me all tarping is inside. FM is a fleet manager. I was at the rock last night and today getting a trailer worked on. I was talking to one of the instructors there and he said they have slowed down on the hiring on account of the upcoming holidays. Seems like they did last year as well. Your FM is your supervisor. They do not get your loads. The CSR's book us.

    Hi all.
I am in the glass division , the reason you tarp/untarp inside is the glass can not
get wet at all , it has a fine powder in between each sheet that turns to glue if
it gets wet, you can destroy an entire 45,ooo pound load real quick.

They have been a great company to work for. not sure what the hiring
situation is at this time, I do know the glass side has been pretty busy
even with the economic mess . Not many companys out there haul the
"big glass" that we do .
