Have been looking and reading up about Millis. Got a few questions for ya'll. Do they hire anyone from NYS? Do you need your permit prior to going to Millis? Where do they have schools? Can anyone explain about paying for the hotel room? Greatly appreciated.

Well they have a school in Trenton, Ohio ( just north of Cincinnati). They also have a school in Georgia. Yes, you would need a permit. Can't remember how the hotel cost works. I would think they hire out of New York State. Just call and ask.
-
Can I get my permit there? Or do I need it prior?
-
I talked with Millis and they told me to have it prior.
-
need permit in home state prior to going and you need a physical prior less than 60 days old.
you pay the hotel back at the rate of ten dollars a week untill payed if you drive for them.

Millis has a terminal in Weedsport,

we have a few drivers from new york. like hitman said we have a terminal in weedsport. my trainer was from oswego. you would probably go to trenton ohio for school and they already explained the hotel. good luck on whatever you should choose

Some good answers here already. We have many drivers from all over NY. You will need your permit and Medical Cert before you go to training. All hotel cost is paid for by Millis and will be payroll deducted once you are on your own. They do not pay for food during your training - that is your responsibility.

All good answers. Thank you for all the help in answering all my questions. I'm from Long Island. Looking for a good company to break into trucking with. Started going through Prime Inc's student driver program; however due to a personality conflict with my instructor I withdrew from the program. Now my next question is will my medical card that I got through them be valid when I get my permit back in NYS or do I have to take a completely new DOT physical for my new permit?

medical cards are good for 2 years unless you have a medical condition
