I was fired from my job as a welder back in August . Long story short I decided to get into trucking . With that said I did not have a job for about 6 months . So I narrowed it down to 2 companies . Turned applications to company A and company B on the same day. The next morning company B calls and asked me about my termination . I was honest with her . Company A calls me back around lunch says it looks like my background was about cleared they just needed to referencess to call to verify what I did in that time span and was waiting on my school to verify I went there . As soon as I get off the phone with them company B calls and says everything checked out good and they wanted me to accept their offer I said gladly . Well today almost 7 days later company A calls me back and says they have a question 2 ask me about my application ( reguarding my termination ) . I immediately tell her Iv already accepted a job . She asked me where at I told her I'd rather not say. She then told me she just wanted it to put on file incase I applied with them again . So I told her the company . She immediately started dogging the company why would you choose them over us ? Then she said when we spoke on the phone had you already taken the Job? I told her no mam. I applied with both of y'all at the same time and needed a job so I went with who got back with me first . She then says well we run our back ground checks before so it takes longer and Company b prolly didn't , I was out of town and had someone filling in for me blah blah. She then says good luck to you! Then says we were gunna try in get you next week . I respectfully say thanks for keeping me in mind and if things don't work out there I would give them a call.I finish answering her questions about my application . Dang I know they got a job to do but she came off pushy and rude . Lol are they all like that? I mean did I handle the situation good ?

You did OK; she's just doing her job. She probably deals with some rude applicants on a daily basis.

Hope you picked a good company that will provide some good paychecks.

You handled that perfect! I'm still new, but I'm getting the clue that all companies bash the other. Just part of the business I guess.

Not a lot of love in the world of trucking

    The competition is tough

Boss breaths down the recruiters necks to keep the trucks filled .

Unfortunately, yes this is fairly common...not the norm, but not out of left field. The biggest thing to keep in mind, and hopefully the lesson taken from this is when dealing with recruiters is that their primary role with company x is to recruit!! Meaning as in to handle and filter as many qualified applicants as possible, get them through that company's doors and into a seat...behind a desk or behind the wheel. Although most will deny it, many do have applicant quotas to fill, and are commissioned to either get you through the company doors or will collect said commission once you successfully complete orientation and are seated in a truck.
The trucking industry as a whole...it's a bitter pill and a hard truth to accept, but it is at times a cut-throat industry. Whether it's your driver manager, or a recruiter, you'll come to find that most people at most companies will be your best friend, pretty much…so long as you're willing to play ball...and let them win that is. That is, so long as they get to make up the rules and tell you how it's gonna be. But the second you "step out of line" or stop playing ball...you're no longer their best friend, and now you're basically worthless to them...as your recruiter with company a demonstrated, all too well.
    Best of luck to you!
