Well, I am no newbie to driving, but a reefer unit is NOT something I am familiar with! But since the Boss jst bought a bunch of these things, I guess we are stuck with them.
Here's the question... It was cycling, and then it just jumped over to a "preheat" cycle, and then went back to cooling! No-one in the shop is familiar with them, and I certainly am not... What's going on here, and how do I fix it?
And where can I get some kind of manual on a thmo-king reefer?

BTW, I am no HVAC (of reefer) expert, so I know some of my terminology is incorrect! -
Generally, that would be defrost mode. However, this could have been test mode. Did you just start it up?
Ice buildup will cause a reefer to throw on some heat to clear things out. This shouldn't take more than a few minutes. And is normal throughout the length of haul. -
From 80+ degrees to -10 . Yup, it's a wonderful thing to listen to for 2 days. -
It probably was just defrosting. OTOH, you could have a problem there. Make sure it is filled up with antifreeze/coolant.
I can't understand a company buying a "bunch" of reefers and not having anyone in the shop know ANYTHING about them. However it is a specialized field, and takes someone with the knowledge and the tools to repair them.
There are usually "contract mechanics" in any decent size area that specialize in this work.
