Absolutely, if he knew where he was going. :/ Never got the itinerary so he has no clue what his booking is for the hotel. Doesn't know which hotel it is or anything. He has his own card and the Uber app, and I can order him something if need be. Just not sure where to send him. Found a number for the Charlotte terminal and they're forwarding his situation to a Charlotte recruiting office and they're supposed to call him in 20 mins. If they don't, he's been given a second number to call and they'll take care of it. Someone should be calling him an Uber and get him to a hotel - either the one he should be at or a whole new booking. So we're just waiting.

At Schneider -- each terminal has a help desk -- that you walk past, as you enter the main door.

The help desk at that Charlotte terminal should be able to tell you what the hotel is....and where it is.

That's a bit of a relief, thank you! If he doesn't hear back within this 20 mins wait, maybe I'll just send for an Uber to get him there to the terminal and at least he might be in a safer spot to figure out his next move.

TOTAL DISCLOSURE: at a carrier as big as Schneider -- you will meet some of the finest people in the business. You will also likely encounter people who are pretty much there as "chair warmers"...who have almost no work ethic -- and everything (or everyone?) else in between.

My guess is....whoever was responsible for your son's pickup from the bus station -- needs some time out behind the barn (or worse).

Lol. It's like that everywhere for sure!

First number - whomever they called for him never called in the 20 min time frame. He called the second number he was given and it was some sort of Schneider travel agency? Closed until tomorrow morning. So I'm trying to get him an Uber to the terminal and we've gone through three drivers accepting and then declining the ride. He's just going to sort of camp there at the terminal until someone figures something out. Wondering if he'll have to sleep in a chair there? Is there some sort of waiting area? Messy.

Once he gets to the Charlotte terminal -- someone will (more than likely) be at the earlier-mentioned help desk (unless he gets there very late).

The help desk should then be able to get him a ride to said hotel.

It's probably a hotel that's fairly close to the terminal.

If.....somehow....all else fails.....the terminals usually have a lounge area (some with at least one couch)...where he could "crash out" for the night.

He just got picked up by the Uber I sent. He'll be there in 10 mins or so. Hopefully someone is there and can get him settled. He's freaking out a bit because they told him he'd be expected in his hotel lobby at 6 am to catch the shuttle to the terminal and he's been on the bus (well, at the station waiting on the delayed bus) since 9:40 so he's exhausted and just wants to get enough sleep for tomorrow. At least if he has to crash in a lounge area, he won't have to worry about the early morning shuttle. :biggrin_25523:

The help desk function at the terminals is known within the company as "Driver Services".

If your son gets there....and no one is manning the service desk....and there are no shuttle drivers to be found there....tell him to try this phone number for help finding the nearby hotel for Charlotte's next driver orientation:

    800-558-6600 (it's for "Overnite Services -- SOS")

There is a lovely lady there who is calling around to close hotels to see about a vacancy or an existing booking but not having any luck so far. She said he's welcome to sleep in the lounge area but it's rolling office chairs so that's gonna suck. He'll do it if he has to, obviously, but we're hoping she can find out where he's supposed to be. I'll forward this number on to him. Thank you so much! I feel much better about him being in a safe place for the moment but worry that he won't get sleep before orientation tomorrow. He def doesn't want to start off with a bad first impression!

    Which hotel?

If I had to guess....it would likely be....either the Red Roof Inn....or the Super 8....located right off of exit 41 (W Sugar Creek Rd) on I-85 (i.e., the 2nd exit north from the terminal).
