Oooh. An interesting update. There is no booking anywhere for him and the lady at the help desk found him to not even be in the system. He's not even scheduled for the orientation starting tomorrow. He's in the "system" as an applicant. The recruiter sent him the bus ticket (which he used today, obviously). He's sleeping in the terminal tonight and he's been told to not bother with that overnight number tonight since he's not in "the system" anyway and he's supposed to check with trainers in the morning at 7 am to see if they will help figure it out. The lady at the terminal has called all over the place and all anyone can say is that he's not in the system for "reservations" or orientation but just his application. No idea what to expect in the morning.

Lonesome and LadyNytmre Thank this.

I'm embarrassed. And it's not even my fault.
Be sure he takes down the names/phone numbers....& time of day/nite of whomever he talks to....when getting to the bottom of this mess.

......
My next suggestion: (most likely) a recruiter somewhere has some explainin' to do.....
The help desk there will get him pointed in the right direction in the morning....
-- LLadyNytmre Thanks this. -
Do keep us posted on how Schneider handles this.....

Really appreciate your help tonight! -
Did not read the whole thread but 34cpm is pretty low for 2023
Its a funny time in trucking though and they are supposed to have a great training program which is more important than pay right now.
Also I bet the trick is to get on a dedicated account
I would have loved to switch from reefer to flatbed my first year and that is a possibility with them
All in all I think its a good moveLadyNytmre Thanks this. -
Welllll....haha. The thread is long so I'll just sum up with this. He got on a dedicated account and decided the training was the main thing so he's ok with the pay. He got on the bus this morning and made it down to Charlotte after almost 12 hours and no one was there to pick him up. We've gotten him an Uber to the terminal and he's sleeping in two office chairs shoved together and waiting until the morning to figure out what happens next. He called an Overnight number and a guy there tried to figure out the issue and he's not in their system. He's not scheduled for orientation at all. No hotel, no shuttle, no orientation. Someone left it incomplete. The only thing done was the bus ticket. So he's staying at the terminal by the grace of the nice lady at the help desk and he's going to call his recruiter in the morning to see if they can get him on the schedule and just started half a day late or... if they're going to pay to send him home and back out again next week. Without him in "the system" as he is, though, there is a huge chance that he's literally stranded 5.5 hours away because the Overnight guy said that leaves him without a way to get him a hotel or shuttle or any other "considerations". Waiting until the morning to work it out all or start a GoFundMe to bring him home. Feeling a certain way about Schneider right now...Lonesome Thanks this. -
I went 14 months as a new driver on the DG account before I got my first preventable. Tore off my bumper. I guess I did have "incidents" of jumping curbs and making ruts in grass.
I would say stay far away from dollar accounts unless you're a weirdo like me who loves unloading. I would go with DG fleet over Schneider with the new pay structure of incorporating on duty unload time into pay. DG fleet pays flat rates and you can do very little on duty time to work your 14 and 70.
