Questions about starting out (special circumstances)

Im not sure where to put this so sorry if I infringe.

I had worked my last job 15 years ending 11/23/12. Before that was 15 years at the previous job. None of these jobs were related to the trucking industry.

I was terminated from my last job. That being said a final finding by the employment security office ruled that I was in compliance with company policy and that no misconduct was established on my part.

I spoke to a recuiter at Pprime and was disqualified from training because I was terminated

Is this going to be the same with all the companies?

Is there any way to convince recuiters that being an "At Wll" state there are sometimes under lying circumstances to an employment termination

Blood pressure medication is OK; I take a 320mg Diovan daily and pass DOT physical just fine & get a 1 year card.

A couple of other guys on here lived overseas & hard to verify work history but had no problem finding trucking job. Schneider works well with some in that situation; they went to tanker division.

I recommend document last 10 years on paper covering overseas & unemployment w/reasons then make sure the company has a copy and OK's it. This way you won't waste time & money on trips to orientations just to be rejected. The companies want a 10 year work history anyway, so be prepared early.

 

In regards to your high blood pressure, if you can pass a DOT physical you will be fine.

I would say you shouldn't have a problem with any of it. High blood pressure you can get a one year card for that as long as it is controlled. I would take your prescription with you to the doc. As far as your surgery you should be ok. That is a long time being off for that surgery though. I have had pretty much the same surgery with the labrum and pins put in twice within six months and was only out for a year with the shoulder. I might have had better pt though since my injuries were military related. You are lucky though I've never gained full use of my shoulder though. As far as your history it shouldn't be a problem as long as everything checks out. When you were not working and was out on medical you have to state that. Any gaps in employment you have to state what you were doing. Just be honest about it and you should be able to find someone who will hire you. Then stick with them I would say at least 3 years in your situation. You can go anywhere from there. Most companies out there that require experience only look at the last three years anyways.
