    Nelson,
There are a bunch of threads on here about Millington, TN. Look for the search tab up on the top right of the main Swift page and enter "Millington", "Ocala" and "Packing". Read those threads and come back here on this thread and post the questions you still have. There are a bunch of drivers here who can help you and are more than willing to do so but we simply do not have time to do your research for you, pal. Doing this yourself is being proactive, something you must have to be successful as a professional truck driver.

Hey Nelson I'm also attending that class. I'm a local so packing isn't going to be an issue with me. I'm nervous as hell though to say the least...

I went to Millington in January of 2009. No reason to be overly nervous. I figured at 49 years of age I would be the grandpa of the bunch. I was shocked to find out that was not so. Lots of younger guys but MANY in my age bracket and older.

They will teach you what you need to know to pass your CDL and that is what you need to concentrate on. You'll learn about being a professional driver and how Swift does things AFTER school. Work like crazy on your pre-trip and your backing skills and all will be good.

The Admirality Inn isn't the Ritz but it isn't bad. If you get crappy roommates do not be afraid to ask to be moved to a different room. The school will do this for you. Plenty of stores and eateries within walking distance of school. Me and my roomies pooled our money for groceries and ate MUCH better than doing it on our own budget.

I hope it goes very well for you. I can promise you, when you get that CDL you'll never forget all you had to do to get it.

BigMike I appreciate the reassurance but you know how the unknown goes. I've had Class B CDLs for a while now but browsing through the Millington Academy threads it seems quite a few have had problems with the pre-trip test. I'm studying the pre-trip section of the MS Driver's manual as we speak.

That sucks on the 15hr. Its like 30 mins for me. Good luck on the study though. It's nice to see someone headed to that class. Kinda cuts the air, so to speak lol.

Fred met some very nice folks while he was there. He still talks to several of the people he met in Millington. Some of them have already given up trucking, some have moved on to other companies, one couple has leased their own truck and are team driving and about to get married. Good luck to you two.
