Oh and........we have ezpass prepass.....and all that stuff. We have a pretty good DOT record so we bypass a lot of scales.

how fast do the leased trucks go..
-
Good question, company trucks too!
-
Seems like a decent company. I know they do a lot for Fed Ex very time sensitive freight.
-
The company trucks go from 62-68 depending on what division you work for. Or if you are a team or not, dedicated account, etc.. As far as leased trucks, I think they are set at 68.....but I'd have to ask about that.
ozzyway Thanks this. -
Yeah we have a lot of fedex, Amazon, General mills, etc. TA has no problem with freight.....that is for sure. The FedEx and Amazon loads are always JIT.

Oh and my buddy reminded me that TA is offering pretty nice sign on bonuses for experienced drivers in some divisions right now too. Oh and just so everyone knows.... Deleted But I'm happy to answer your questions even if you don't! I can honestly say that Transport America treats me pretty well and does what they say they are going to do. I just like seeing good drivers go work for a good company. The main thing is if you show them that you can get the job done in a safe, professional, on-time manner......you can make a pretty good living being a driver here. The turnover rate at TA is a lot lower than most companies ........that should tell you something. As far as miles go......you. can get good miles every week, but if you want to work hard two days a week, loligag around the truck stop all of time, or take no pride in your job......you probably shouldn't even try to work here. You won't last long. Safety is TA's #1 goal......and it is stressed to you constantly. But if you aren't an idiot and do things the right way , you probably can make it here.

I spent quite a few years with American Eagle in Lancaster, TX and I don't think I ever found more than one or two drivers who were satisfied. Me? I was happy as a pig in ####! I worked about 6 days a week, had a truck turned up (on the side for $50) to 69 in the company shop and I averaged 65mph on my logs
My DM knew I could manage logs and loads and I seemed to get all the D&H loads, 600 to 1900 miles each after the first year. My typical start from home would be a load of paper from St Francisville to WI, and then another load back to Olive Branch drop yard, and then a drop and hook to AZ or CA. I spent a lot of time between Ontario, CA and Olive Branch, MS! I probably averaged 3500/week back then with paper logs and safety never said a word. Yes Sir and no Sir go a long way in this business! I averaged between $1000 and $1200 a week back then when everyone else I talked to was making $500.
I think the key to success in this business is having a good attitude and being respectful to everyone you meet. I have seen a lot of new guys over the years start out respectful until they become "super-drivers" a few months along. There are so many people with such bad attitudes toward work in this industry it's unbelievable! If you can't make lemonade from lemons, you don't belong in this business!Scream'n Hauler Thanks this. -
I just read somewhere that TA doesn't let you take your truck home. If you don't live near a terminal, how does that work? I don't think I can work for anyone that doesn't let me take my truck home. That's when I do my spring cleaning and restocking...

I didn't see any APU on their trucks last time l saw one. What is the idle policy? Can you idle or do they ask you to suffer in the heat? Do they have inverters in all their trucks?
