For all of your questions other than 6, 8, and 11;
It depends. No two drivers, dispatchers, accounts, or regions are the same.
6. They'll let you buy a truck from them as soon as you're ready to bend over and give them all your money after you test out of training.
8. You are allowed any inverter that can run off of a cigarette lighter.
11. $20 for every 24 hours after the initial 24 hours.
You'll have to ask a recruiter for the rest, as well as driver placement, then your fleet manager for further details.Gold_Miner Thanks this. -
My answers are specific to dedicated Walmart, I do not know about any other division.
1. I believe it is now about 30/cpm, was 33 when I started.
2. 61.5
3. I'm fine with it.
4. No problems.
5. On this account maybe 1500, plus stop pay. If you prove you can do the job it can improve.
6. NO, Werner does not offer lease purchase, they will gladly sell you a truck and help you get it financed though anytime you like.
7. As of today no - in the past yes.
8. Only what will plug in lighter outlet.
9. Do not know
10. No idea, never used it.
11. On this account Layover - no, you will not have layovers though. Detention - yes after 2 hours as long as the Sun, Moon, and Jupiter are aligned. (there are specific procedures, if not followed to the letter, no pay)
Breakdown - Depends on the situation.Vitamin D and Gold_Miner Thank this. -

Governor speed is based on account, not truck color.
The inverter policy is the same for all trucks.
Pets are not allowed on accounts where the customer forbids pets on their property.
They spent a video and CBT at least explaining per diem to you in orientation.Gold_Miner Thanks this. -
So what do they pay during training? Is it $350 a week or I have heard they raised it to $450 per week..
-
Its a sliding scale based on how long you've been in training. I forget what it starts at, but $350 sounds about right.
-
Just finished orientation yesterday in Lithia Springs, Ga. I started driving for them 3 years ago today when the economy was about at rock bottom, and it was terrible. Only hired teams, and would run a team truck about 2000 miles a week, so I left.
As for training pay, it is now $400 a week for students, and $450 a week for Co-drivers.
They definitely seem to have taken a more safety-conscious approach to the industry since the CSA regulations have taken effect. It is still a student mill, but they have improved their policies drastically. When I first started, there were no road tests, even for people coming in as "qualified drivers", merely a sign and drive orientation. They are now very focused on safety, and appear to care a bit more about the quality of drivers they put through. My 2 cents.fisoxlt Thanks this.
