I was very apprehensive about that Alpicool when I first bought it. It's made in China, the manual is written in really bad English and I got it from Amazon. However, after using it for a couple years now it's been great. I'm very happy with it. It sips battery power too. It had an auto off feature if the battery power gets too low. I've ran it for my 10 hour breaks with zero issues.

How about 34 hour breaks? How would running not only the fridge but everything else in the truck work in this case? Do all of the appliances and outlets hook up to the truck batteries and would this not drain the batteries during a 10 hour or 34 hour reset? Whats the work around on this if I dont want to use power directly from the truck batteries when I do a 10 or 34.

Can I have the aplicool AND a regular fridge hooked up at the same time without it causing some kind of overload issue, etc?

Alpicool is a cheaper version of Dometic. I have an Alpicool that I've been beating the crap out of for a year, and it hasn't missed a beat. I haven't even unplugged it since it went in the truck. Truck still fires fine after sitting a week. The only time I had a problem starting it, was when it sat for two weeks. Like @ProfessionalNoticer says, it's got an auto off feature. And it's adjustable too.

I assume you'll be with the truck during your reset? I wouldn’t leave anything electrical powered on if you're not there to watch the truck. The risk of a fire is too great IMO. Just start the engine periodically to charge the batteries. I wouldn't keep draining them though because those types of cycles will ruin them unless you spend the extra money on AGM or deep cycles. You could also take a gas powered generator with you as well. There's several very good threads here on that subject if you're interested.

Yeah, I am mostly referring to me being with the truck during a reset.

Are APUs the same thing as gas powered generator? Im not very familiar with the term, but I heard of something called APU which allows to power everything, including A/C without having to idle the truck. Is this what you are referring to?

An APU is very expensive but has other benefits like keeping your engine warm during the Winter even when shut off but I was referring to a gas powered generator. Do a search here about them to learn more but if you're going to be with the truck all you have to do is start the engine up periodically to recharge the batteries if they get too low. Odds are, you'll be idling for climate control most of the year depending on where you run so it's kind of a moot point.

Stop all the planning, take what ridgeline said, 1, 2 bags max while with trainer, its THEIR truck, their rules

THEN, see what you NEED from trainers truck to do the JOB for 2 or 3 weeks

THEN come back and ask these questions when you know more.

You dont know if you need your own fridge or if its provided, so we cant even GUESS if your meals will fit

Apu or idle or generator, truck may have an apu, or no room for a generator or even a fridge

This is one of the stupidest replies I have gotten under a thread. no offense, but if you take offense, too bad.

    "stop all the planning" Lmao

    1. I am not driving for someone else.
    2. There is no trainer. It's going to be my truck, my company. Nowhere did I mention a trainer or someone else's truck.

The way you are telling me to do step by step and stop the planning, is the worst response to the question / topic. There's nothing wrong with being prepared beforehand. It's like delivering a load. Do you deliver without directions or route planning?

Be as snippy as you wish, you are embarking on a path straight into owner op from NOTHING. absolutely NOTHING in your op says this is your plan.

You are trying to run before walking, you dont even know WHICH questions to ask, you never posted what base truck or trailer type, what features it has or doesnt.

Dont condescend to me about how im giving poor advice given 0 actionable information to advise from

    1. Its not being snippy. If you’re offended by what I said, stay mad.

    2. Now you are assuming that I am embarking into Owner Op from absolutely nothing? This is really stupid because you don’t even know me or the experience I have lmao. But keep reaching.

    3. I dont know what questions to ask, but I received answers from others without any issue?

    4. What does the trailer have to do with anything? I asked about keeping food on a truck. What features is a trailer suppose to have that I should have told you about?

    5. If there’s not enough information for you to reply, then don’t reply. Common sense.

    6. Maybe stop gatekeeping and assuming other peoples experiences? Not everybody starts out as a company driver holding a trainers hand while they drive. You may have done that, which is fine, but not everyone does that.
