Teaming with Conway must be one of the best paying entry level jobs in this industry. They ran us hard, Straight out of school I was taking home $1000 a week. Some weeks well over that. However, being solo is the complete opposite, you take home about $600 a week at the beginning, sit around and waste your time just like at any other big OTR. I didnt enjoy my time at Conway because i always knew i can get better, way better, specially in hometime. But i was still glad i started out with them and not Werner or Swift. I would still recommend it as a starting job if you cant get local or a better otr/regional to start with. Just dont get institutionalized like so many people are in that company, many think they are in the best place in the world and even UPS drivers make less. Sometimes Joplin reminded of North Korea. Like i said, if you are gonna team, your life at Conway will be way better. You get preference on dispatch, always preplanned, a lot of coast to coast 2500+ mile runs. The Peterbilts they got for teams are very sweet trucks too, very rarely sit, it's just better. Still, that doesnt mean its the best, i know a couple that left to make way way more than that at a small New Mexico all-hazmat carrier.
Just depends really i wont lie this week it sucked sitting at 1100 but its prob cuz thanksgivin. Uh rest ranges from 2500-2800?
Yes.. But that's understandable.. I only got 1400 this week and that's a team truck but more so because I have a sorry co-driver but thank you for response
It's hit or miss, sometimes you deliver on a friday night and get screwed until monday morning. And sometimes you get a sweet long run and finish the week alright. It's too unstable.
Thanks for response.. I always hear good things bout the company but not so much as the miles.. Gotta live tho.. But thank you.
Don't look at a week compared against averages. Look at a month and then divide by 4 if you want to create an average. Plan on 10k to 11k as a solo. If you are not getting that, evaluate how you operate, and your manager. Trust me, start with you. Get to the pick ups and deliveries as early as you can. Then you get on the board quicker, get the next load quicker, and add up the miles sooner. If after 30 days, you aren't at 10k to 11k, than ask your manager for a sit down to evaluate things. Oh, and drop the co-driver. You can do better solo. Teams work out better if you trust each other, like each other and have similar work ethics. Good luck.
