Hey everyone!
I've been floatin around on here a couple weeks and been reading everything on TMC. Ever since I first saw a TMC truck I have wanted to drive for them. I started driving locally for my families company when I turned 18 while going to school. Last year I moved away to pursue a career in the field I was studying. Well now I will be 23 in a few months and I really want to get back in a truck and give OTR a try before going back local with the family! So here's a few questions:
As far as the driving record goes, how far back do they look for speeding tickets? When I was younger and stupid I got a few right in a row and then about 2 years ago I got 2 more. One in my truck.
Are there any drivers here from Iowa?? I live about 1.5 hrs from DM. Is there a better chance for weekend hometime being from Iowa? I don't care about that though, as I would probably just hit up the parents house when in town, and I don't have a wife or kids to get home to!
Any other helpful info would be great!
Thanks in advance,
BJ

id sday your done tmc says no more than 3 moving violations Id give it a few years but call them
-
Do you know if that's just in like the past 3-5 years like some others? or is that no matter what?
-
If you go to the TMC web site it explains what the requirements are. I believe it's 5 years and if one is a DUI then you can forget it. They will not touch ya.

Had my parents pull my record. Got 3 in the last 5 years with the earliest one dropping off this year! My original plan was to go back to work for my parents through this next winter then try to get on. If they wouldn't count my recent experience as good enough there is a truck driving school in the town next to mine that I could attend

are you a tmc driver

Depends on what you want to do.
TMC is strictly flatbed. Freight is a little slow at this time, or course winter usually is. I can't tell you how much the line haul drivers make, I'm dedicated. Equipment is decent, I make decent money, no problems really to speak of with TMC.
Check out the website, read the forums on TMC. Believe what you want, but understand not everything you read is true, or actually posted by a current TMC driver.
You will have to do a little work pulling flatbed. -
Hey bs64507,
How do you like dedicated, and what exactly does it entail? I for sure want to get on with TMC but not sure which to do, line haul or dedicated! Flatbed has always had my attention and I think it'd be an awesome experience -
I happy with it. Run local/daycab for Lowes. I think dedicated gives a consistent paycheck. Might not be as much as line haul. I'm home every night/every weekend. Only bad part is when the DC closes down, I'm not working. Not delivering loads, not getting paid.
