One thing my father told me once many years ago, is that jealousy is a marriage WRECKER.
He’s right.
For this to work, there can be not a shred of doubt in the hearts of either of you. You must be everything the other wants. For example, if you’re a boob man and your other half is small chested, she can expect to catch you looking, and if she’s the jealous type battles WILL ensue. If that sort of thing persists you will grow to resent being subject to something roughly tantamount to a military debriefing every time you return from the store.
At that point you’ll be at the “I dread weekends and going home” stage. That alone can kill any marriage, and is certainly no way for anyone to have to live.
If none of this applies to your situation and you’re sure it never will, I’ll shut up now.
Best of luck to the both of you.

Well there’s two categories selfish and selfless!
There’s also honoring your commitment and serving something bigger than yourself!!!Dino soar, FerrissWheel, WrightTrucker33 and 2 others Thank this. -
Oh and I forgot one more thing it really doesn’t matter who she is it matters who you are!
FerrissWheel and OldeSkool Thank this. -

My wife was my first serious relationship. We met in church. I was 27 she was 24. We are Christians and built our relationship on that.
Look, marriage is hard work. Anyone who tells you it's not is lying. There will be nights you have to clean up after her getting sick and you will have to compromise on what you eat or watch on tv, etc. But you do it cause you love the person.
Ignore the divorce rates. The biggest cause of divorce rates is fights over money. Resolve not to be part of the divorce numbers. While we joke with each other about it we will never get divorced. We are in it for the long haul. Divorce is not an option. Lose that word from your vocabulary.
It's best to decide what you want now, before you make a committment, but to base it on yoir friend who is single and living it up, that lifestyle can get old. I was like that and thought that is what I wanted to do, but then my wife came into my life and the rest is history.FerrissWheel, Snow Hater, buddyd157 and 2 others Thank this. -
I'll tell ya this.
It takes a special kind of woman to be married to a truck driver.
Very few are cut out for it.
She has to be very self sufficient and not one that gets lonely and cries herself to sleep.
It's as hard on them at home as it is on you out on the road... maybe harder.
Some cheat.
Some engage in financial irresponsibility.
Some just leave.
Sometimes you strike gold.
It's best to really know who she is, and have a solid plan.
Be ready and willing to quit for her if need be.. but not wishy washy.
If you get a job that gets you home frequently you stand a much better chance.
Being gone months at a time... tick tick tick.
Do your homework.
Any real doubts... don't do it.Dino soar, bzinger, sherlock510 and 4 others Thank this. -
Don't fall into the trap of marriage. Most people are scared to be alone. Instead, do cool stuff like ride motorcycles, drive muscle cars, and collect sports memorabilia for your man cave instead. If you want a friend, get a dog.
Purplepete90, Brettj3876, sherlock510 and 4 others Thank this. -
Everyone gets tempted, it's what you do with it when it happens. Temptation is not a failure, giving into it is.FerrissWheel, OldeSkool and Deere hunter Thank this. -
