I'm hoping to upgrade to the premium shifter with full manual mode soon, what's it called? Doesn't Volvo call it progressive shifting or something? I have the basic shifter now and hate not being able to downshift when I want. Upgrading from 425 to 500 hp helped but not enough.

You can install premium shifter but kick down mode is just a parameter change really quick to do and it will downshift based on the accelerator pedal when u kick all the way down the last 1/4 inch click that’s the down shift than u just got to hold rpm up about 800 to 1k to upgrade shifter but it does come in handy. I did it on all mine but with drivers it’s hard to explain to them how to drive manual.

Yes but performance mode usually comes with upgraded shifter and has to be turned on from tecu it holds the rpm higher to shift still lags on down shifts a little bit b

Wish I had known that about kickdown just being a perameter change. My dealer doesn’t know that. I asked for it when I upgraded to 500hp and they told me only with upgraded shifter. Dang, been driving it without for a year.
