Okay... so I have a few companies I'm interested in. I just started training at Sage.
My question is... how the hell am I gonna give/explain the last 10 years of employment history when I have basically been a house husband for the last 7 ? I mean, I've done a few roofs for a small roofing company... a bit of PC repair for friends, family, and just an odd repair job here and there. Nothing consistent though.
I've not earned enough in any of the last years to need to file taxes or anything like that.
I know... it sounds like I've just been a lazy bum. This was the way my wife wanted it to be. I was actually very busy remodeling our home for quite awhile and did pick up as much odd work as I could get though.
I appreciate any advice that anyone can give me.
Thanks
EDIT: Sorry...think I may have posted this in the wrong section. If a mod sees this then would you please move this to the correct area. My apologies![]()

Simply put down that you've been a stay at home dad/husband. It cannot be the first time these companies have heard of it.
Give Roehl, Maverick, Watkins Shepherd etc a call and see what they say. Stay away from Swift, JB Hunt and CR England if you can. -
Welcome to the world of trucking! One of my jobs is to review all driver applications and verify employment. Your case is rather unique but my advice for you is to be completely honest during the application process. Usually if you can produce income tax return forms for the periods of unemployment, then this should be sufficient verification. Depending on your application, I may have you write a statement and explain your lack of verifiable employment.

Thanks for the advice and information. It is truly appreciated

Canon City, Gateway to God's Country and home of the OLDEST Walled Prison still in use in the country. I spent much of my youth between Sagauche and Dinosaur, with a lot of time in the area of Los Pinos Reservoir straight uphill from Co 114 near Cochetopa

Yes, it's definately a beautiful area. Royal Gorge, Skyline Drive, and much much more. More prisons around here than you can shake a stick at though. Getting to where it takes forever just to get down to the grocery store because of all the tourist traffic.

Most places accept a written response like that.
Not sure if we do or not...
