Questions for Recruiters

Just some of the questions:

1. What types of freight will I haul?
2. What routes or regions will I drive most often?
3. What percentage of loads are drop-and-hook versus live load/unload?
4. How is pay structured (per mile, percentage, hourly)?
5. Are there bonuses or incentives (safety, performance, referral)?
6. What benefits are offered and when do they start?
7. What is the average age and condition of the trucks?
8. Who handles maintenance and repairs?
9. Are trucks equipped with APUs, refrigerators, or inverters?
10. What are the home time expectations?
11. Can I take the truck home, and are there parking restrictions?
12. How flexible is time off or schedule changes?
13. What is the company’s turnover rate?
14. Is there a driver manager or support team on the road?
15. Are there opportunities for advancement or specialized routes?
16. What is the company’s safety policy and how is it enforced?
17. How does the company handle accidents or incidents?
18. Are there restrictions on types of loads or areas I can drive to?
19. What is the process for reporting issues or delays on the road?
20. How quickly does the company respond to problems during a run?

 

Depending on which carrier you call, you might make it to #8 before the recruiter says “You ask too many questions” and hangs up.

 

In all my years in this industry, I have met only one and just ONE honest recruiter.

I have met a hell of a lot of people who call themselves recruiters and they all lied on one or another plane.

 

That happened to me, LMFAO!!!
