Hey everybody, looks like a I will be starting with Stevens in November. Just had a couple questions to ask.

    1. What trucks are solo company drivers getting at this company, I have read Kenworth T660's, some Pete's and maybe a couple t2000's here and there?

    2. Do the trucks have APU's? If not do they have a no idle policy? The Kenworth Green Power system looks nifty.... but doubt they have those.

    3. Do company drivers pay for lumper fees out of pocket?

Thanks everybody, really appreciate any answers give :biggrin_25514:

Emulsified, Thank you for the answers to all the questions. Really do appreciate it! I actually like the T2000 myself. The t660's look good too, still feel the T700 looks a little weird, but I'm sure it will grow on me. I love the fact that Stevens runs Kenworths. Always been my favorite trucks! Only trucks my dad and uncle ever drove. I'm really excited to get started! Got my Class A Learners yesterday, start school next week! Hope to see you on the roads!

Hey Glowstickz, I actually decided to go to a school of my choice, here in Tampa. Its weekends from 7am to 6pm for 8 weeks. I start Sept. 11th. Just easier that way for me, so I can still work while going to class. So I have a little money put away for when I'm only making 325 the first part of training. I'm done with class on the Nov. 6th and supposed to start at Stevens on Nov. 15th. Good luck man! Hope to see you around the fleet sometime!

Coleman makes an excellent cooler that plugs into a cigarette lighter plug. It will even freeze up after a week or two, so you have to unplug it overnight every week or so. It keeps drinks and food very cold! It also lays down and you can use it like a cooler, or stand it up like a minifridge. The door is reversible. Sold at almost all truckstops about $100.
Microwaves can be as cheap as $50 or even less, but cheapest ones are horrible underpowered and can't heat a cup of water in less than five minutes. Measure the cubby hole you want to keep it in, then measure them in store to make sure it fits. Be sure it's wattage on tag on back of it is less than your APU wattage by 200 watts or so or you'll be resetting your APU often when you use it.

You'll probably get a T2000 without an APU first, about half do have them now even on grad fleet. Small chance of a Pete, and almost every Pete has an APU. You'll drive that truck or one like it for first year or two at least before any chance at a newer truck like a 660 or a new Pete just off lease. Depends heavily on your performance, accident/incidents and your past driving record in a 4wheeler.

What's the word on these 700's? Are they discontinuing the 2000's or is stevens just phasing them out? If ya had your choice 2000, 700, or 660?
