Hi friends,
I am contemplating a truck-driving career and I have a few questions. (Okay, a lot of questions).
Here they are in no particular order. Any help you can provide would be much appreciated. Feel free to answer by number.
1) Will most trucking jobs permit me to drive during daylight hours only?
2) Exercise is important to me. How do you exercise while you're out on the road? (Is it logistically difficult?)
3) Do most trucks these days have built-in GPS?
4) I'm a little nervous about the size of the trucks... and I'd probably feel a little more comfortable driving a "smaller" one. What are the smallest trucks available that still require a CDL to drive?
5) I heard showers are $10 on the road... but that credits can also be obtained. $10 sounds expensive... and credits sound annoying. Is showering as difficult/expensive as it seems?
6) I like to be in the sun for 20-30 minutes each day... especially lying on the beach! Any chance that a full-time driver could work something this into his/her daily schedule? How hard would it be?
7) Lots of truckers seem to work 20 days on, then 10 days off. But I'd rather work full-time... with few or no days off. Is this possible... or do regulations prevent this?
8 ) If I get hired as an OTR driver in a southern state, would I be less likely to have to drive in the snow? Or does your "home" state not really matter when it comes to this?
9) Above I mentioned that I enjoy the beach, but I'm not sure my semi-truck would even fit in the parking lot. Do you find maneuverability to be a major limitation when driving in the city? Does it sometimes prevent you from going places that you would like to go?

Gm also ask this too, but i had a rec , ok, i get to this street, said no big truck's, big city sign too, so i called em up, even the company says it ok, dont, call the city police out there, this way your butt is coverd as they escort in, otherwise you take down wires or other thing's, you as a driver will pay for that and can be called a accident.

I call troll!
If this is for real though I highly recommend you find something else to do. I really don't think this is going to be your calling. Not being negative, just trying to save you $6000 and 3 months of your time.
Welcome to the forum though. It is good you are at least are putting some research into it. This is the place to come for good info on the biz.
Good luck on your endeavors.
