Questions from a trucker who took a break for a while

Yes but I bet percentage wise there are more accidents among the foreign drivers, but we will never know. It's not their fault, can't blame them for wanting a better life..also not their fault they can't drive. Yes plenty of stupid American drivers to go around also..

 

I think the more important stat is how many drivers are involved in accidents that are untrained, or undertrained.

 

IMO it’s the #### trucking schools. Back when I was growing up there was no such thing as a trucking school, you had to learn from someone who would take up time with you and show you the way, normally a family member or on the job training. Either way you had to have a strong work ethic and the strive to learn, because if you didn’t no one was gonna waste their time training you.

As trucking schools became more popular so did the promise of riches and easy money by the big carriers looking to fill their trucks. This in turn brought in drivers who are lazy, unprofessional and are in the profession to just chase the easy money.

The respect that this profession once had is gone and it’s now become just another job.

disclaimer….before anyone gets butt hurt this statement doesn’t reflect everyone who attended a trucking school…but most.

 

This is true ..but the influx of foreign drivers is also..nothing to see here move along..

 

Funny, I remember back in the mid 80's that EXACTLY the same thing was happening, and nearly every truckstop stunk of urine even then. Let's face it; truckers were pigs even then.....

 

You would be surprised how much these foreigners , understand and appreciate america more than most americans do
... Sure some give trucking a bad name with the way they drive and act.. Have u ever had a conversation with some of these guys? Alot of these middle eastern dudes are the most down to earth nicest people you can meet... Sure they come from a different culture and do things a bit different than we do in america but that doesnt make them bad people.
