I was tempted to report the ignoramus I got stuck behind on US 301 on the way down to Richmond yesterday morning as a drunk driver. There ain't much I can't stand more than a passing lane hog.

We called in a drunk driver that we were keeping boxed in across the toll road in Indiana. No one showed up, so after 20 minutes we gave up.

In WY call em in as a suspected "REDDI".

Report Every Drunk Driver Immediately. The cops get right on it.

Just dial 911 and tell them whats up. They'll transfer you to the right agency, Highway Patrol, Sheriff, or city police depending on your location and highway.

In Edmonton the highways have signs all over them for dial 911 to report and impaired driver. Have never done it though, so dont know what their response would be. Imagine it should be positive seeing as though they are posting the signs! :biggrin_25517:

    That doesn't sound very smart.

I drive a car, have for 26 years. I always respect truckers and have known forever that they CANNOT stop on a dime so don't be stupid. Once I hit 30, I smartened up out of the "love speed" thing and always have cruise in my car now. It set it at 5 km/hr over the speed limit and cruise on down the road. Tons of people pass me - then I pass them stopped by the cops for speeding :biggrin_2559: and go on my merry way.

I wish more people would use cruise - it's illegal to speed up when someone tries to pass you but a TON of people do. Very infuriating, especially when they slow down again as soon as they pass you and you cannot pass them now. :biggrin_25516:

When someone's passing me, I slow down if I have to to ensure everyone passes safely. And you can report bad drivers to the police - but good luck at them giving a darn or doing anything about it.

I can't believe some of these drivers watching TV, reading, texting, writing - are they insane????!!! People are just trying to do too much in too little time and cramming it all in - no matter what.

There are a LOT of REALLY STUPID car drivers on the road!!! And they drive like idiots and erratically and dangerously constantly. I see them zooming up the shoulder of the road to bypass traffic, cutting in front of people so they have to SLAM on their brakes, etc., etc., etc. They're just accidents waiting to happen.

We always drive with cruise on when we're on the highways (if it's not too busy with traffic) and we sit around 2 or 3 mph over the speed limit and keep a good distance in front of us all the time. So far so good but sometimes you still have to slam on the brakes and that's NOT a good thing in a tractor trailer.

Then there are those IDIOTS on the ramps!!!!:biggrin_25516::biggrin_25516: They zoom down the ramp, don't look, then look and slow down to a crawl. But you've already slowed down to let them in because you figure they're not gonna look so then both of you are creeping toward the place where they merge and one of you has to almost STOP to avoid an accident. :biggrin_25516::biggrin_25516: SO FRUSTRATING!!!!

A lot of truckers just barrel on through and hope the car looks before it merges but we just can't do that - just not built in to Mike's way of driving - he's too careful - so we try to drive in the center lane a lot in the States but, in Canada, there's rarely more than two lanes on the highways :(

I wish the cops would monitor idiots more closely and fine them for dangerous driving so MAYBE they'd smarten up but, again, I'm not holding my breath :biggrin_25513:

I love the one's that get out in the middle lane, go slow, and then express shock and disbelief at being passed on the right.

    DUH!!! What do you expect?

    How about another one.

Why do motorists in some cities believe that the shoulder of the road is a passing lane when sitting in rush hour traffic? Is it that the .02 seconds they save by making that pass will really have a tremendous effect on the rest of their lives? Or is it lack of decent drivers education programs offered in some major cities? And further when they cant get around you in the same trafic scenerio why do they feel the urge to give you the old 1 finger salute? Does that move traffic along any better in front of us both? Or does it make you so mad and nervous that some phsyco trucker might hop out and bust your lights up that you have to make even more shoulder of the road passes out of sheer self preservation?

Personally I believe that most 4 wheelers simply do not understand the basic things a truck needs. Stopping distance, steering distance, off tracking, even width of a truck. I wish the drivers would put forth a united effort to take a truck to every high school in America and help educate the next generation drivers. Not so they can always look out for us, but so that they may be more alert, safer drivers than what we currently mass produce in our schools.

I think most drivers, trucks and 4 wheelers alike are safe and corteous. But I also believe that better understanding of one anothers needs on the highway would reduce the accident rates for all of us.

Ok, I'll admit it. We're idiots. I talk to my professional truck driver boyfriend on my cell phone. I text him back and forth on my cell phone. I do draw the line while driving over the Chesapeake Bay Bridge in MD. Now that would be really dumb. I'm teaching my 17 year old daughter how to drive. I don't do dumb stuff while I'm with her. She is giving me gray hair.:biggrin_25524: Although she did drive us from rural Eastern Shore of MD to Towson without killing us. Only one minor merging incident. In MD, rookie drivers need a minimum of 60 hours of on the road hours plus drivers ed and their 6 hours and then they can get a provisional license.

I try to give truckers their space. I realize you lovely folks have 80,000 pounds to my whatever I have, and you can't stop. I know there are blind spots. I continue to marvel at the stupidity of some of the drivers on the road. I will not hesitate to call 911 if I see road rage or a suspected drunken driver on the road.:yes2557: No hesitation at all with that one. After all, my loved ones are out there. Precious cargo.
